Your route directions from:

Eifel, Germany

Simply enchanting. So different but so close by. This region experienced a great deal of volcanic activity in the past, which has left its mark. The ‘Hohe Acht’, the highest peak of the Eifel at 747 metres, is an extinct volcano. The top of this mountain offers you a breathtaking view of the surroundings. Perhaps you wouldn't immediately link the abundance of water to volcanos, but this also has a volcanic origin. The mineral water of Gerolstein, as well as the numerous lakes -the Maares or maar lakes - stem from the volcanic period. The Eifel is absolutely idyllic in the winter. Once you see the picturesque villages with the pine trees and timber-framed houses freshly covered with snow - you'll never want to leave.
