The island residents will be there to greet you on your arrival at Terschelling harbour, where it is almost always windy and the smell of the salt water gives you a cleansed sensation. The approach to Terschelling is unique. You sail into the only harbour in the Netherlands that is situated in a natural bay. During your journey from Harlingen to Terschelling, you will see the Brandaris in the distance. The 400-year old Brandaris is located at the centre of the village West Terschelling and follows the shipping 24 hours a day.

There are many pleasant villages on Terschelling. The old low yellow stone houses with red roofing tiles in Midsland provide it with a homely and personal atmosphere. The Frisian islands are unique in their varied landscape, with the beach, sea and dunes forming the most characteristic properties of what once used to be sand drifts. Terschelling has a lot to offer: an extensive and very wide North Sea beach, extensive dunes, a vast polder, magnificent salt pastures and unique intertidal flats, to name just a few.
