The 400-year old Brandaris is located at the centre of the village West Terschelling and follows the shipping 24 hours a day.

There are many pleasant villages on Terschelling. The old low yellow stone houses with red roofing tiles in Midsland provide it with a homely and personal atmosphere. The Frisian islands are unique in their varied landscape, with the beach, sea and dunes forming the most characteristic properties of what once used to be sand drifts.
